Free raw chocolate

You may remember that we did a juice cleanse a few months ago. Hundreds of you joined in and we supported each other throughout.

So, we’re about to do it again! This Wednesday 12th May 2010 sees us getting juicy with it. And I’d love you to jon in! In fact, I’m going to give you a really good reason to join in… CHOCOLATE!

Yes, there’s a little competition looming πŸ˜‰

All you need to do is comment on this blog post with your favourite juice recipe. Easy!

I’ll pick ONE recipe that encompasses our juice cleanse frenzy and send the winner a box of raw organic chocolates, 1 of each flavour. Closing date is UK midnight Wednesday 26th May. Competition is open worldwide and you don’t have to participate in the juice cleanse to enter the competition.

Get juicy with us!

Getting juicy?

Feel free to use myΒ facebook,Β twitter or blog comments for chatting with one another and general support. You can start now, and you can cleanse for as long as you want, though the support will be mainly there for ten days.

Some of your questions, answered

What do I drink?

Raw, organic, freshly juiced vegetables and fruit. I aim for 60% green vegetables (high on the celery), 30% non-sweet fruit (high on the cucumber) and 10% sweet fruit.

How much do I drink?

Aim for about 5 litres (about 5 quarts) of juice a day. Your size, activity level and metabolism will determine the exact amount you need. It may also vary over time.

Can I eat anything?

This isn’t a contest, it’s just for you to feel the benefits of supported juice cleansing. If you want to eat, too, then choose from the following if possible:

  • chlorella tablets
  • marine phytoplankton
  • non-sweet fruit
  • fresh smoothies

Can I drink anything else but juice?

Yes! As much fresh clean water and as many herbal teas as you want.

I’m working, how do I juice?

It does depend on the job you do, but you can juice enough to take in a flask to see you through. Juice that isn’t drank immediately can degrade, so consider adding a spoonful of ionic silver to it to prolong its life.

I’m pregnant or breastfeeding, can I do it?

I fasted for 7 days on water when I was pregnant (I didn’t know I was pregnant at the time) and so I know it’s not dangerous, but the choice has to be yours. Consider green smoothies instead of juices, and adding chia mylks to your menu. If you don’t feel right, stop the cleanse immediately. We have about 5 pregnant or breastfeeding mums on board, all doing a variation of the full juice cleanse to suit their needs.

What else should I do?

  • You may feel cold while cleansing. Keep extra layers of clothes handy, and enjoy blankets and hot water bottles if you need them.
  • Feel free to do a castor oil pack on your liver.
  • You may want to take MSM and liquid zeolites to assist your cleanse.
  • Have plenty of hot baths with salt, magnesium or epsom salts in.
  • Go to bed early. Give thanks. Meditate. Love. This cleanse is a prayer in action.
  • Exercise gently: walking, yoga, small weights and pilates.
  • I personally will keep taking the supplements I take daily, vegan DHA and reishi extract being two of them.

That’s it?

Yes, that’s it. It’s simple. Juice as often as you like and as much as you like. If you feel hungry or weird, juice more. I’m really looking forward to doing this with you all, and am so glad we’re here to support each other.

Bliss U

    • Raw green juice is always my fave:

      Kale, celery, spinach and pear

And usually a wee bit of Prime Directive chucked in it for the extra green factor!

I love James reply, and all the others’ too…

I love simplicity in my life, and sometimes (sometimes not, too)
      in my nourishment:

I’m voting for celery (one head) and cucumber (about 1 1/2).

I’m drinking it now, and loving the juicy-perfectly salty flavour.

      Bliss to u 2, love.

I love this juice – you can make it a smoothie by adding an avocado! I was inspired by a recipe by Emeril for Lobster Ceviche.

    3 Cucumbers
    2 hot peppers
    2 plum tomatoes
    1/4 of a sweet onion
    Juice of 1 orange
    Juice of 1 lime
    Juice of 1 lemon
1 avocado (optional if you want to make it a smoothie)

Juice the first 4 and add them to the juice of the next 3. This will make a lot of juice! You get a lot of bang for your buck with cukes!

For a smoothie and blended in the blender with the avocado.

this can be blended like smoothies
or juiced (though would have to blend or omit bananas)(bananas can be replaced by orange or apple juice if just juicing…..)

    basic recipie is :

berries – raspberries, blueberries, strawberries….(berries can vary though depending what is in season)

plus can use frozen fruit and blend these to make an ice cream….
(and adding cashew nuts to the frozen blend would = even more creamy!)

this is one of the reasons i love raw food, recipies are often easily adapted ; )
i like the sound of a lot of other juices already posted too…..

  • my favorite combo:
    1/4 whole pineapple
    flat leaf parsley

    2 carrot sticks
    1 tart apple
    rainbow chard leaves
1 red beet (root and tops)
and sometimes I add Arugula, too

A little bit on the heavy side, but oh such pure bliss!
    1 – 2 kg carrots
    1 – 2 handfuls raisins (preferably soaked)
    1/2 – 1 coconut (the mature ones)
Not a green juice, but one could add lots of leafy greens to balance it some!
The story behind it: My kids always want to buy mature coconut, but once I open it they just have a bite or two and then they will not touch it again. So what is mom supposed to do with it? Juice it! πŸ˜‰

This has been my favorite recipe since I began juicing:

    Embrace Two Ecstasy apples
    Lend some lettuce Love, 1
    Cram some Crunchy Kale (crunch)
Now lop in a loucious lemon (yum)
Juice some ginger, as much as you like…

Now you have made what is called green lemonade, made to crave but save some too. If made for two be sure that you do, double the recipe dude. (or dudet) sweeet! πŸ˜‰

Hi everyone, great recipes so far!
    One of my favourites is:

    3 ripe pears
    1 lime
    1 small piece of ginger

The sweetness of the pears keeps me happy, lime is alkalising and ginger is detoxing. My non-raw friends love it too, so I have something to share with them even if I’m juice-feasting.

    Happy juicing! xx

Most days my favourite is whatever green juice that’s possible to get out of my little garden full of gorgeous weeds(there’s alot to be said about being a lapsed gardener)But for a special treat (and for friends!) I absoutely ADORE juicing a huge watermelon with some celery and then (the best bit) going out to my pots of herbs and finding something delicious and sun-warmed to add! Any of the mints (including chocolate mint!)is terrific on it’s own or with basil. Lemon thyme or any of the thymes work well. Lemon verbena, chicory, parsley, rocket, a touch rosemary…in fact any herbs seem to match watermelon perfectly. And it’s so much fun choosing them each time! Never the same drink twice!

The following is one of my favourite treats, I call it The Vegan Vampire for its beautiful deep red colour (my friends call it ‘goth juice’!).
I drink this 10 minutes before a rebounding session to give me some pizazz. πŸ™‚

    -6 blackberries
    -half a large cucumber
    -10 ripe cherries, stoned
    -small handful of frozen raspberries
-4 large ‘Evie’ variety English strawberries
-generous handful of spinach or dandelion leaves

You can also add a small raw beetroot if you really want to make a rosy splash upside the kitchen units!
It is highly vibrant, energising and refreshing, and not too sweet, as the cucumber, greens and the sharpness of the blackberries take the edge off of it.

during my twin pregnancy, i started off mainly drinking fresh squeezed oj in the 1st trimester, then moved on to green smoothies in the second, coming towards the end of the third; frozen strawberries, a banana or two, lots of fresh mint, sprouted energy powder was my fav for a while. Now, at the very end, I am craving lemons and so juice lemons from my friend’s tree, freeze the pure juice in ice cubes, then add them to some fizzy water and a tsp of maple syrup first thing every morning. Delicious!

This is mainly a fruit juice drink, but it’s simply gorgeous. I’ve been drinking it all weekend sat out in old sunny England whilst my Chemivore friends drink their fizzy pop.

I love how hydrating and exotic it is.

    Tropical Refresher:
Young thai Coconut Water, Pineapple, Mango, Lychees and Orange Juice.
(I often throw in lots of spinach and some passion fruit)

  • This one makes me feel very sensual, warm, and always makes me go “Oooh!” after the first sip, followed by a deep contented hum of satisfaction; 2 beets, 5 or 6 medium to large carrots, 4-5 cups spinach, 1 or 2 medium to large apples, 1 and 1/2 large cucumber, about an inch of ginger root, 2 celery stalks….after they’ve been juiced, I throw it in the blender with 2-3 tablespoons wheatgrass powder, 1 tsp blue-green algae or spirulina, 1/4 to 1 tsp etherium gold or red, and a dash cinammon….sometimes i may add a tablespoon of black seed oil but that’s highly highly optional as it does alter the taste

  • FaBuLoUs ShAZZIE!!!!!

thanks for creating some much ‘ecstasy in the UK’!!!!
& in other parts of the world too with yr cool books and loving energy! And yr chocolates look ‘off the chain’ (high US compliment!!)

    below is a Green & Chocolate’y juice recipes……

juices & smoothies like this one below helped keep my strength up for the journey of moving from being a black-out drinking & drugging party girl with a death wish ~~~~> into a PoWeRfUL raw vegan anarcho peace activist, punk rock feminist, sober, conscious party womyn who LoVes life!!!! honestly this has not been an overnight process, it has been challenging facing many dark nights of the soul, but drinking fun chocolatle’y green juices & smoothies has made the journey much more loving, bearable & even FUN!!!!

    the recipe is called…..

    in a juicer put….
    Swiss chard

    add these powders to taste…..
    acia powder
    blue green algea powder
    chlorella powder
    powdered gogi
    raw cacao powder!!!!!

and to make it a super yummy sweet juice add….
powdered stevia extract or yakon syrup
(if u can take the sugars add some agave, local honey and or organic dates etc to taste)

also you can add white willow powder for an anti inflammatory effect, if your sore or have a headache.

I am an intuitive raw food eater and I choose amounts of ingredient to what feels healing and to what I am needing at the moment. So to those dirty grrrls going green listen to body!!!
